Data controller: Alt Horizon Ltd

Company number 17098644, registered in England and Wales.

Companies House: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/17098644

Privacy enquiries: hello@althorizon.co.uk

1. Who this notice covers

This notice applies to personal data we process about visitors to althorizon.co.uk, people who submit our contact or cost calculator forms, and prospective business clients who correspond with us. It does not cover data processed under separate written agreements with engaged clients, which is governed by the relevant contract or data processing terms.

2. What we collect

We only collect the information you choose to give us, plus the limited technical data needed to operate and protect the site.

  • Contact form: name, work email, phone (optional), company (optional), and the message you send.
  • Cost calculator follow-up: work email, phone (optional), and the one-line use case you provide. The numeric inputs you enter into the calculator (volumes, token counts, model choice) are sent with that follow-up so we can give a useful reply, but they are not personal data on their own.
  • Server and security data: your IP address, browser user-agent, and request URL are logged briefly so we can keep the site running, prevent abuse, and apply rate limits to the forms (a one-hour window).
  • Analytics: aggregated, cookieless page-view counts and referrers via Umami, our self-hosted analytics. Umami does not set tracking cookies, does not build cross-site profiles, and anonymises IPs before storage.

We do not collect special category data (health, ethnicity, biometrics, etc.) and we do not knowingly collect data from children. The site is aimed at business users.

3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • Replying to your enquiry and providing follow-up: processed on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating a B2B consultancy, and yours in receiving a response. By submitting a form you understand we will use the details to reply.
  • Logging IPs for rate limits and abuse prevention: our legitimate interest in keeping the service available and protecting it from automated misuse.
  • Analytics on aggregate visitor behaviour: our legitimate interest in understanding which content is useful, using a privacy-respecting tool that does not require consent under the ICO’s analytics guidance because it sets no cookies and creates no individual profile.
  • Records relating to a contract or potential contract: processed where necessary for a contract with you, or where you have asked us to take steps before entering one.
  • Compliance with legal obligations: for tax, accounting, or regulator requests where we are legally required to retain or disclose information.

4. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to engagement: deleted within 24 months of our last meaningful contact, unless you ask us to remove them sooner.
  • Engaged client correspondence: retained for the duration of the engagement and for 6 years after, in line with the standard limitation period for business contracts under English law.
  • Form rate-limit IP records: stored transiently and discarded after one hour.
  • Web server logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user-agent): retained as a security history so we can investigate incidents and patterns of abuse over time. We do not use these logs for marketing or analytics.
  • Analytics events: retained in aggregated form indefinitely. They contain no personal identifiers.

5. Who sees the data, and where it lives

Form submissions and the systems that handle them are operated by Alt Horizon Ltd. Specifically:

  • Contact and cost calculator forms post to a self-hosted automation endpoint we operate (n8n.mattshore.co.uk) which routes the message to us. No third-party CRM, marketing platform, or customer data service is involved at this stage.
  • Analytics are processed by our self-hosted Umami instance (analytics.mattshore.co.uk). No data is sent to Google Analytics or comparable third-party trackers.
  • Email replies are handled through our standard business email infrastructure.

Where we engage you under a written contract, any further processors we use will be set out in the agreement and any associated data processing terms. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertising networks.

6. Where data is processed

Our infrastructure is operated in the United Kingdom. We do not currently make international transfers of personal data collected via this website. If that changes, we will use an appropriate safeguard (such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy regulation) and update this notice.

7. Cookies

We do not set marketing or tracking cookies. The site may set short-lived functional cookies that are strictly necessary, for example to remember a form’s anti-spam token within a single submission. Our analytics tool, Umami, is cookieless. Because nothing on the site requires consent under PECR (the rules covering cookies and similar technologies), we do not show a cookie banner.

8. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (right of access);
  • ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete (rectification);
  • ask us to delete your data where there is no good reason for us to keep it (erasure);
  • ask us to restrict or stop a particular use of your data (restriction);
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including any direct marketing;
  • request a copy of the data you provided in a portable format (portability), where the processing is automated and based on consent or contract.

To exercise any of these, email hello@althorizon.co.uk. We aim to respond within one calendar month. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

9. Complaining to the ICO

If you believe we have not handled your data properly, please raise it with us first so we can put it right. You can also complain at any time to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s independent regulator for data protection.
